It’s all down to the mint

Summertime is Pitta time. Among other things, Pitta regulates digestion and body temperature and, as it is influenced by the fire element, is directly linked to warmth, heat and the sun. On hot days and as summer progresses, the influence of Pitta in the body can increase. To help you stay cool even in hot conditions, we’ve mixed up a drink that cools you from the inside when it’s warm outside. Give it a go.

Maharishi Ayurveda summery Pitta tea

Make the tea first thing in the morning, and you’ll be well prepared for the midday heat.

Pour half a litre of boiling water over the tea bag and the mint or lemon balm leaves, and leave to infuse for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bag and leaves, then leave to cool to room temperature. Add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice, stir and enjoy.

Makes 2–3 glasses:

  • 1 teabag of Pitta tea
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 5 mint or lemon balm leaves
